These versatile bark strips are made from the bark of the Sea Almond, also known as Catappa tree. This tree has active properties and releases tannins and saponins in the aquarium. Catappa is widely known as having the strongest antibacterial and antifungal effect.
The bark strips are a natural aquarium decoration and provide an ideal grazing ground as well as shelter (when stacked) for snails, shrimps, crayfishes and other aquarium inhabitants. You can include these strips as part of your aquascaping design.
When introduced in the aquarium, the Catappa bark strips will float before sinking to the bottom. This can be sped up by putting them in hot water for a few minutes. Since these strips release natural active ingredients, there is no need to introduce a large number of these strips.
Note: We sell this item by its weight since most catappa bark comes in different sizes. If you prefer to have a specific size, let us know in your order and we will try to meet the required minimum size for the requested quantity first and any remaining weight will be then added in separate pieces.
