Description
Clithon Snails are smaller slugs of golden yellow color with black stripes. There are, however, many color variations in this genus. They are part of the larger Nerite family. Its beautiful shell is decorated with distinctive thorns, the size and number of which are equally variable. It is a tireless algae eater that can keep aquarium glass, stones and decorations clean and free from green spots. Thanks to these properties it is ideal for smaller aquascaping aquariums.
It is recommended to keep them in groups of 3 pieces and in aquariums with a capacity of 20L. Clithon snails tend to climb above the surface, so it is recommended to keep the aquarium well covered. They feed primarily on algae, but it is good to have dry leaves in the aquarium in case of emergency, but only occasionally consume food leftovers.
They are not demanding on water parameters and, in good conditions, they grow up to 3 cm and live up to 4 years. The spikes on its shell are relatively fragile and it is unfortunately common that their spikes break during transportation or when they drop to the bottom of an aquarium.
Clithon females snails lay eggs from which larvae develop in brackish water. They do not reproduce in fresh water, so there is no danger of overpopulation.
They are different from the Clithon Corona snails in this shop as they are much smaller.
