Description
Thiara Scabra is a very unusual type of snail with beautiful spines covering a conch shell. In general, it is still practically unknown and you don’t read much about it on the Internet. Based on our observations to date and information on the most related species, this snail cleans the aquarium of algae, food residue in the substrate and detritus (biowaste).
Thiara Scabra, thanks to its rugged appearance, is a real treat in an aquarium, despite its smaller size (2-3 cm). That’s why it is also suitable for smaller aquariums below 50L.
It works tirelessly in the substrate – cleaning and turning it – thus oxygenating it. However, it should be kept in mind that it is not suitable for carpet plants or aquascaping aquariums where the bottom is deliberately not flat. By turning the substrate, they will eventually flatten it.
The snail does not require difficult water parameters (pH 6 – 7.5, hardness 6 – 15 ° dGH and temperature 21 – 30 ° C). As mentioned above, they are suitable for aquariums from 20L.
