What type of layout would work the best with Seiryu?
Seiryu rocks became best known among aquarists for their Japanese minimalist-looking aquariums. In this case, spectacular results can be achieved with more unique pieces. For more complex mountain ranges, you may want to work with larger amounts of rock, using small and large stones for a more natural effect. However, it can also be used as an additional decoration, for example, between plants or as a base for wooden decorations, in which case it is best to work with small stones.
How do we use Seiryu stones?
For a more massive structure, it is worth using glue, but many use the natural shape of the rocks and the force of gravity for the joints.
Rocks can break up quickly with a large hammer. You may want to use stones of different sizes to increase the feeling of space.
With Seiryu rocks, we can not only build mountains, but they can also be used entirely for the pedestal of wooden decoration, as a foundation for wood type of layout. Its natural color and veining lend real naturalness to our aquarium.
How do stones change water parameters?
Seiryu stones can slightly increase the PH and hardness (KH) of aquarium water. In most cases, however, this increase is not unmanageable. Perhaps the only exception is if we use large amounts of rock for our layout. In this case, it is worth solving the CO2 fluctuation using, for example, a pH controller.
How to clean the stones?
It is advisable to wash with water before use. In an aquarium, if the stones have algae, you can also use a cleaning brush, an electric toothbrush or a sponge / brush.
Tip: Stones can be dusty and sometimes have lime deposits on them. Although not necessary, it can sometimes be useful to bathe them briefly in household hydrochloric acid (for a few seconds).
WARNING: Household hydrochloric acid is an extremely hazardous, corrosive substance. The steam too! Its use, therefore, requires extreme care and special protective measures.
How many stones should I order for the aquarium?
The following amount may be a suitable starting point for rock layout. Of course, this is not enough for a monumental rock formation, in which case up to two to three times as much decoration may be required. However, in our experience, a spectacular result can also be achieved with the following amount for Seiryu stones.
